Fort Kent--- Dolores Dumont, 80, peacefully entered into Eternal Life February 7, 2024, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 14, 1943 in Fort Kent, a daughter of the late Antonio and Leone (Desjardins) Martin.

Dolores graduated from University of Maine – Fort Kent and went on to be a beloved elementary school teacher. She first started teaching in Madawaska schools before relocating to Fort Kent Elementary School. Her teaching career spanned an impressive 37 years. She also taught several programs with the University of Maine and was a mentor for many educators in the area. Dolores was an extraordinary artist and her paintings are distributed near and far across the globe. She loved visiting the many sights of the St. John Valley and created beautiful masterpieces on her canvases. She is a life member of the National Association of Education, the Maine Education Association and she was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Lawrence Dumont of Fort Kent; two sons, Kevin Dumont and his wife Julie of Burlington, CT, and Tim Dumont and his wife Meghan of Wallagrass; four grandchildren, Jacob, Shelbie, Zoey, and Brenna; four siblings, Roger Martin of Florida, Joel Martin, Norman Martin, and Doris Ouellette, all of Fort Kent; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her daughter, Carissa Dumont in 2023, and two brothers, Ronald Martin and Rosaire Martin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at St. Louis Church, E. Main St., Fort Kent. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent
