IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald A.
Baker
October 13, 1938 – April 6, 2022
Donald A. Baker of Fort Kent, Maine passed from this life on April 6, 2022, with his wonderful caregiver and friend, Michel Miranda and his loving dogs, Little Girl, and Lady, by his side in the home he proudly designed and built of northern Maine logs. Don was born on October 13, 1938, in Fort Kent, Maine, the third child of seven children born to Irene Daigle Baker and Alton D. Baker. Don lived a full life and life to the fullest having a deep love for northern Maine, its woods, and all of its creatures. He owned and operated a number of businesses, including a clear-cutting business for power lines, which often employed over forty people. He was gifted at being able to learn whatever he set his mind to; in recent years, he taught himself how to operate a computer-controlled wood-carving machine, turning out many works of art.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly A. Baker of Coral Springs, Florida and Victoria L. Baker of Hampden, Maine; two sisters, Hope E. Bates (Jerry) and Joyce B. Hedlund (Wesley) of Maine; and a brother, James R. Baker (Editha) of Germany; and sister-in-law Mildred Walker (Jesse). In addition to family members, Don is also survived by special cousins, Delbert Daigle and Peter Baker of Fort Kent, as well as a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Jesse W. Baker and John A. Baker; sister, Eleanor B. Thibodeau; and the mother of his daughters and former spouse, Rena Mae Daigle Baker.
The family wishes to thank the many care-givers who helped Donald over the years and through his recent illness. Your dedication and caring meant a great deal, and he often spoke of your kindness. A very special thank you goes out to Michel Miranda, James Ouellette and Peter Baker for all that you did to make Donald's final years enjoyable and full of stories.
