Van Buren and Presque Isle --- Donald "Barnes" Parent, 67, passed away March 23, 2022, at a Van Buren health care facility, following a short illness. Born in Van Buren February 6, 1955, he was a son of the late Martin and Lorette (Corbin) Parent, and was a graduate of Van Buren District High School, Class of 1974.

Barnes worked at JC Penney Department Store in the former Caribou location and moved with them to Presque Isle Mall, for over 20 years. He was a loving brother and uncle who loved to spend time with his nieces and nephew. He enjoyed attending local sporting events to cheer on his local teams, especially baseball and basketball. He was a former player for Van Buren Men's Softball league, where he made many memories playing on the same team as his brothers.

He is survived by four siblings, John Parent (Muriel) of Van Buren, Richard Parent (Susan) of Florida, Martine St. Pierre (Wendell Bourgoin), and Martha Parent, all of Van Buren; a nephew, Jason Parent; and nieces, Kristy Dube and Michelle Ayotte.

Besides his parents, Barnes was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Richard St. Pierre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
