Obituary

Donald J. DuBois, age 70 (going on 71) passed away on February 23, 2026 at Northern Maine Medical Center. Born on 12-15-1955 the beloved son of the late Norman and Jeannette (Raymond) DuBois, he left a positive mark on many people with his strength, determination and faith.

God was Don’s focus, the center of his everyday existence. His faith was so great and his prayers were so powerful that they were often sought by many in their time of need. With his siblings, nieces and nephews around him on his last day, he brought us all through Mass, (hymns and all) and we prayed the Rosary with him as family. Those eyes were the brightest blue Sunday afternoon! We were blessed to witness what we now know was his joyful affirmation and acknowledgment that he was entering his final place of rest.

A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, Don was especially proud of attaining his Fourth Degree. The honor meant a great deal to him and reflected his commitment to faith, community, and brotherhood.

Donald is survived by his loving, supportive siblings, Norman (Mary Jane) of Millinocket, Arlene (Frank) Daigle of Fort Kent, Rena Mae (Alain) Cloutier of Caron Brook, NB, Jim (Leola) of Millinocket, Dana (Vickie) of Millinocket, his twin brother Ronald (Theresa) of Skowhegan, Pauline (James) Charette of Millinocket and Norma (Andre) Landry of Fort Kent. He is also survived by his loving Godmother, our dear Aunt Cecile Theriault of Fort Kent. He was loved unconditionally by his many nieces, nephews (who Donald thought were WAY cooler than his siblings) and the entire community of Fort Kent who always looked out for him.

Donald was pre-deceased by both his parents, his brother Clarence “Clyde” and his sister Linda and brother-in-law Wilfred “Bea” Pelletier, and infant nephew Scott Cloutier. The family will forever be grateful to the amazing staffs at St. Joseph Memory Care in Frenchville who took such great care of Donald, especially during COVID, and to Forest Hill during these last 5 months.

Relative and friends are invited to greet Donald’s family on Thursday February 26, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Lajoie Funeral Home, 14 East Main Street Fort Kent. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church. Spring burial will be May 8, 2026 in Fort Kent, Maine.
