Van Buren--- Donald J. Fournier, 88, died peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, with his loving wife at his side. He was born May 23, 1927 in Van Buren, a son of the late Aime Fournier and Winnifred (Madore) Dubay.

Don last worked with East Street School, Hicksville, NY, where he assisted in implementing their first computer systems within the school, until his retirement in 1987. Previously, he was the Superintendent of Schools in Allagash, assistant Superintendent of Schools in Van Buren, and Principal of former St. John School. He was an avid "putterer," and had a wonderful knack for woodworking and working on home projects. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, Hicksville, NY, and various other organizations.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Lauretta (Blier) Fournier of Presque Isle; five children, Denise Fournier of Salt Lake City, UT, Donald G. Fournier and his wife Amy of Waterville, Claire Gargiulo of Bethpage, NY, Dr. Jeanne Fournier-Fike and her husband Scott Fike of Royalton, NY, and Dr. Renee Fournier of Presque Isle; and 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Anthony, Megan, Catherine & Benjamin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren.  There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
