Obituary

Van Buren --- Donald D. Sirois, 67, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, following a brief illness, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born August 26, 1947 in Van Buren. Don enlisted with the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1970. Upon returning stateside, he worked as a fireman at Loring Air Force Base, and later transferred to Brunswick Naval Air Station, until his retirement in 1997. He is a long-standing member of the American Legion, Post #49. Don's passions included fishing, hunting, his camp at Long Lake Cove, yearly trips to fish in Labrador, QC, and especially the times spent in Las Vegas with special friends. Don will be remembered as a soft-spoken gentleman, a very good listener and never having a bad word to say about anyone. He is survived by: two sisters, Kathleen Marquis of Van Buren and Lisa Laplante and her husband John of Wiscasset; two brothers, James Sirois and his wife Gail of The Villages, FL and Ken Sirois of Presque Isle; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews. Don is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Edna (Cyr) Sirois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren, followed by military honors. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday 68:00 PM and Saturday 910:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will private in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
