Obituary

Grand Isle—Dorothy M. (Cyr) Roy, 71, reunited with loved ones passed on August 6, 2024, surrounded by family. Born August 17, 1952,  in Van Buren, Maine to the late Jean Cyr and Violet (Carrier) Corbin. She was raised in Grand Isle by her mother and stepfather, Cyr Corbin, along with her 8 siblings.

Dot had pride in any job she tackled. From helping at home with all her siblings, making all her own clothes in high school, working many potato harvest seasons, and working in Connecticut, where she lived for a short time. She raised a family, owned and operated an arcade, was a school bus driver, owned and ran her own convenience store with her last job at Marden's. She also enjoyed doing many crafts, so much so that she had a craft class for quite a few years. She enjoyed plastic canvas projects, candle making, crocheting, and knitting, with her biggest love being sewing with her vintage Singer treadle sewing machine, which she used to make quilts until the very last one.  Dot was kindhearted, stubborn, generous, honest, loyal, and dependable; she was always willing to help anyone. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all those who were blessed to have known her.

She is survived by her son Greg (Melanie) of Hermon and daughter Stacy (Ron Dalgo) of Grand Isle. Her siblings: Roland (Sandra) Carrier, Therese Doty, Paul Corbin, Joan Corbin, Jude (Jack) Carmichael and David Corbin, sister-in-laws; Jackie Cyr, Joyce Roy and Linda (Jim) Dionne. Brother-in-laws: Blake Kauffman and Paul (Carmen) Roy. Her grandchildren: Brianna (Joey), Brandon (Ally), Martina (Nicholas) and Hunter and 6 great grandchildren: Braxton, Rylen, Emersyn, Cylas, Zayleigh, and one on the way. Nieces and nephews: Scott, Jodi, Kelli, Kevin, Sharon, Derek, Lori, Adam, Heather, Jaimie, Jesse, Dylan, Keith, Michelle, Monique, Alyssa, Kristen, Matt, and Katie. She is also survived by several cousins and special aunts, whom she adored. Her feline friends and roommates, Sophie and Bella, will also miss her terribly.   Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Daniel Roy, her sister Cecile (Cyr) Kauffman, brother James Cyr, and her nephew, Joel Cyr. The family would like to thank everyone who helped Dot during these last few years. Thank you to NL AR Gould Oncology & Hospice departments, the Lafayette Family Cancer Center, NMMC, Borderview, and Sarah's House.
