Ashland--- Earle G. Hitchcock, 84, peacefully entered into rest Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle. He was born May 4, 1938, in Canada, a son of the late Moses and Drusilla (Durost) Hitchcock.

Earle last worked at Columbia Forest Products, Presque Isle for almost 30 years, generally overseeing maintenance, but never hesitated to help out wherever the shop needed him. Previously he and his first wife owned and operated former BJs General Store in Ashland, for several years.

Earle enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues in Presque Isle through the years. During his younger years, his favorite places to be was in the woods or along the waters of beautiful Aroostook County, where he would hunt and fish from sunup to sundown.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Pearl (Trott) Hitchcock of Ashland; nine stepchildren, Wesley Morris of Portage Lake, Medina Houston and Angela Jarvis, both of Ashland, Wendell Morris, Joan Clayton and her husband Tim, Loretta Macholz and her husband Steve, Timothy Jarvis and his husband Jeff Kimball, and Theresa Harriman, all of Florida, and Christine Black and her husband Dave of Missouri; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Earle was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 14 years, Barbara (Saucier) Hitchcock in 1987, and three siblings, Reginald Hitchcock, Maxine Hitchcock, and infant Fred Hitchcock.

A graveside service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Fairmount Cemetery, Main Street, Presque Isle, where he will be laid to rest with his first wife.
