Obituary

  • Eagle Lake - Earline Janice  Fournier (85) passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 8, 2023.  She was born on February 14, 1938, the daughter of the late Alphie and Rhona (Madore) Berube.  She was a devout Catholic who spent her early adulthood in the Little Franciscans convent as a nun.  Earline loved her family and God above all and when called, she left the convent to care for her younger brothers and sister.  It is then that she met her beloved husband Hampy.  The two fell madly in love and spent the rest of her time on this earth together caring and sharing a beautiful life.  Together they achieved their high school diplomas in 1973 and they owned and operated Fournier's Market.  Later in life,  she worked as a Dietary Supervisor at Powell in Eagle Lake, and at Creative Apparel as an embroidery seamstress in Fort Kent.  In 2017 Earline was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Hampy took care of her until 2021 when she was placed at Mercy Home in Eagle Lake.  Even though she was living at Mercy Home, Hampy went to see her every day where he would tell her stories, show her photos of their family and life together, and even helped feed and care for her up to her last breath.  Their love is a beautiful testament to their faith and commitment to each other.  She is predeceased by her infant brother Robert Berube, her mother Rhona Berube, her father Alphie Berube, her sister Carol Parent all of Eagle Lake, and brother Reynold Berube of Leesville, LA.  She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Hampy Fournier, brothers Roger Berube (Cindy) of Porter, Maine, Denis Berube of Bemidji, Minnesota, & Michael Cyr Berube of Waco, Texas,  and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews across the country.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11am on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. Mary's Church in Eagle Lake.  Spring interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home from 9am until 10:30am on Tuesday the 12th.
