St. David--- Edgar L. Albert, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at his home. He was born January 28, 1926 in Madawaska, a son of the late Clovis and Alma (Tardif) Albert.
Edgar enlisted with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the owner and operator of former Edgar's TVs in Madawaska for many years, until his retirement in 1967. He also worked for Frasier Paper and former Lafayette Radio. He was a life member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus, 4th degree Assembly, Madawaska, and a former member of the Lion's Club. With the help of his father and grandfather, he proudly built his own home at 22 years of age; a home he fully enjoyed many years with family and friends. He loved to work and provide for his family, and also built his family a camp at the lake.
Edgar's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Visiting Nurses of Aroostook and the physicians and nurses of Northern Maine Medical Center for their kind and tender care during such a difficult time.
He is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Grace (Fournier) Albert of St. David; five children, Gloria McCann and her husband Philip of Weymouth, MA, Roger C. Albert, Paula Lizotte, and Gerald Albert and his wife Mary, all of Madawaska, and Carol Ann Cochrane and her husband Jeff of Fairfield, CA; four siblings, Lorraine Russel of Orange, CA, Jill Lemire of Hughson, CA, Rose Marie "Tin" Oliver and her husband Donald and Larry "Pee" Albert and his wife Sharon, all of Laurel, MD; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Edgar is predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Guy Albert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Madawaska. Relatives and friends may greet the family 6-8:00 PM on Friday September 29, 2017 and Saturday morning 9-9:45 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
