Madawaska---Edwina D. Fongemie, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on January 12, 2018, after battling two bouts of cancer.  She was born in Riviere-Verte, New Brunswick on October 31, 1943, daughter of the late Alfred and Bertha (Bouchard) Levasseur.  Edwina's heart was filled with love and she was most happy when her home was bursting with family and friends while she cooked and entertained all with her stories and jokes.  Her laugh was infectious and the look in her eyes would melt even the coldest of hearts.  She loved to help people in anyway she could, always having an open door for people to know they have a safe and warm place to go to.  She was beyond generous, always giving until there was no more.  Edwina is survived by her husband of thirty years, Joel Fongemie of Madawaska; two daughters, Carlene Swearingen of San Antonio, TX, Charlene Morin Fournier and her husband Bruce of Fort Kent; three sons, Gerald Beaulieu of Florida, Ronald Beaulieu and his partner Cristal of Old Town, Steven Beaulieu of Brewer; one step-son, Scott Fongemie of Lewiston; three brothers, Robert, Lucien and Rudolphe; four sisters, Laura, Ida, Yvette and Dorina; a son-in-law, Rejean; many nieces and nephews.  She was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She was treasured by many loyal friends that she considered family.  She was predeceased by her son, Michael Beaulieu, and two siblings, Albert and Dorilda "Do Do." A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the St. David Church.  Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9am until 9:45am on Saturday before the service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, Madawaska.
