Madawaska—Eldon Cyr, 83, passed away on September 20, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. David on August 9, 1937, son of the late Oneil and Isabelle (Cyr) Cyr.   Eldon was a God fearing, devoted family man.  He was a disciplined businessman, and an avid hunter and fisherman.  Eldon spent many hours serving his community at the Madawaska Lions' Club, Snowmobile Club, and the Senior Center.  Eldon will be remembered fondly for his off-colored sense of humor, pranks, and storytelling.  He had many skillful abilities.  He would often invent or construct something from nothing. His favorite place to shop was the Airport Mall.  Building relationships and mentoring others with strong business principles and work ethics was Eldon's true gifting.  His take charge leadership always got things done right and quickly.  Generosity, compassion, and love of people were his plumb lines.  Eldon's greatest legacy lives on allowing God to mold his heart while pursuing peace with his Lord and others.  Eldon is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Theresa (Ouellette) Cyr of Madawaska; one son, Alan Cyr of Florida two daughters, Diane Cyr of Augusta, Me, Donna Carlin and her husband Roy of Milford, Ma; six grandchildren, Mitchell, Andrea,  Kate, Spencer, Heather, Matthew six step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren: two loving brothers, Donald Cyr and his wife Claudette of Madawaska, Herman Cyr and his wife Lynne of St. David.  Besides his parents, Eldon is predeceased by one brother, Oneil Cyr Jr. spouse of Alice (Bosse) Cyr.  In Lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made Payable to the Madawaska Senior Center memo designating funds for building upkeep and property needs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish followed by a graveside burial at the St. David Cemetery, where all are welcome (social distancing and masks required). Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
