Obituary

Fort Kent—Elizabeth "Betty" Nadeau, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Crosswinds Assisted Living Facility on October 20, 2021. She was born in Fort Kent, Maine to the late Michael and Evelyn (Paradis) Halpin on June 15, 1929. Betty lived her entire life in Fort Kent. After she graduated from Fort Kent Community High School she met and later married Valmond Nadeau on October 25, 1949. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Fort Kent Fire Department, the VFW and the K of C Columbiettes. She worked for the SAD 27 school lunch program and later worked many years at Paradis IGA until her retirement. Betty and Val's greatest pleasure was spending time with family at their place on Eagle Lake. Their door was always open and all were welcome to enjoy snowmobiling, swimming, fishing, boating and bonfires on the beach under the stars. It was here that so many cherished memories were made. Betty was predeceased by her husband Valmond, their son William, a grandson Bryan, a great-grandson Dylan, a sister Marie Pinette and brother George Halpin. She is survived by her five children: Sally (Ronald) Berube, Michael (Charlotte) Nadeau, Jean (Paul) Nadeau, Sue (Stephen) Porter, and Bruce (Kayanne) Nadeau. Her 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Two sister-in-laws, Mary Jane Halpin and Lorraine Boucher. A brother in-law, Alberie Nadeau, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Our family would like to extend our sincere thank you to the entire staff at Crosswinds Assisted Living Facility and Northern Light Hospice for the exceptional love, care and compassion received during her stay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Friday, October 29, 2021 at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent, Maine.
