ALLAGASH - Elmer Roy "Hemmie" Hafford, 91, passed away on April 15, 2019 at a local health care facility. He was the son of James Daniel and Mary Ellen "Nellie" (Hafford) Hafford. Hemmie was a dedicated son, brother and uncle. Born in Allagash, Maine on August 15, 1927, Hemmie drove a truck for Lane Construction, Inc. for many years in the Caribou, Maine area until he retired and moved back home. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, J. Lee Hafford and nephew, Michael Lee Hafford. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Faye O. Hafford; niece, Randi H. Jandreau and husband, Bryan all of Fort Kent; niece, Vicki McBreairty Hafford of Allagash; great-nephew, Dean J. Hafford, wife Misti and son Michael all of Casco; great-niece, Brooke S. MacDonald and husband, Logan of Levant. A cousin, Douglas McBreairty and wife Ursula of Candia, NH. and family friend, Bill Davis. Hemmie was always ready to help anyone in need. He gave to his family as often as he could. He loved working on engines in his garage, building with wood, cutting firewood, and being outdoors. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Hemmie's family would like to thank Kathy Jackson, Jane Jackson, Patty Pelletier and Carol McKensey for all the care and beyond given him in his time of need. They would also like to thank everyone at Forest Hill Manor for taking care of him in his last days. In keeping with Hemmie's wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at St. Paul's Congregational Church in St. Francis, Maine on May 17, 2019 at 11am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Forest Hill Activity fund, 25 Bolduc Avenue, Fort Kent, Maine 04743 or a charity of your choice.
