Emelda Cyr departed her earthly life of 80 years after a long battle with her health, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Madawaska to Clara (Cyr) Deschaine and George Deschaine. She married Joseph Cyr in 1956, and they had 3 children. She lived her entire life in Madawaska, working hard, raising her family, and serving her community. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies of St. Anne. She approached life, with all its struggles and strife, with determination, hard work, and above all love. She loved her family more than herself, displaying this time and again. She always enjoyed a good laugh, often being the one to make the joke, even while enduring her own personal battles. She endured financial hardships, ongoing medical concerns, and the loss of two of her children, Tina Cyr and Anne Dionne, with courage, resilience, and grace. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her two daughters, and 2 siblings, Willard and Vanier. She is survived by her son, Guy Cyr, his wife, Stacey Cyr, their son, Caleb Cyr, Anne's children, Amy and Danny Dionne, one sister, Bernice Morin, and her oldest brother, Emile Deschaine. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and the many that were fortunate enough to have known and loved her. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. A special thanks goes out to the staff at High View Manor for their special care during her last few weeks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Saturday, October 15 at the St. David Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Friday and from 9am until time of service on Saturday.
