Obituary

Fort Kent - Emma Marquis-Paradis, 88, peacefully passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility, surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Jacques, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Claudia (Bosse) Lizotte.

Emma loved picking potatoes and was one of the few that could pick over 100 barrels a day at Theriault Farms. She worked for many years at Market Street School where she loved to care for children with disabilities. Her name was well renowned throughout much of the Valley during hunting season for her skilled meat cutting and packaging. She was also a skilled bread maker and never hesitated to share with her family, friends and local events. Emma was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagle Lake, where she was an avid volunteer and spent many days cooking for their events. She was also a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and St. Louis Church, where she also was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne.

She is survived by five children, Diane Richard and her husband Ken of Frenchville, Gerald Marquis and his wife Phyllis, Armand Marquis and his wife Chantal, all of Wallagrass, Sue Chamberland and her husband Alan of St. Agatha, and Ann Nickerson and her husband Dennis of Gorham; one brother, Yvon Lizotte of St. Jacques, NB; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Emma was predeceased by her first husband, Jean Louis Marquis, her second husband Milton Paradis, a great grandson, Tanner, and many siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning 9-9:45 AM at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wallagrass. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
