Madawaska---Francis "Mac" McDermott, 92, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born in Orono on February 15, 1918, the son of the late Mark and Lorinda (Leveille) McDermott. Mac served his country as a Marine in World War II from 1942-1945. He was a member of the American Legion, Post # 147 of Madawaska. He worked at Fraser Paper until his retirement in 1982. Being the avid outdoorsmen that he was, Mac enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He loved to make people laugh and always had a good line. He is survived by two step-sons, Frederick Michaud of Corpus Christi, TX, and Paul Michaud and his wife Maureen of Statesboro, GA; one brother, Donald McDermott and his wife Marie of Madawaska; three nephews, Mark McDermott and his wife Linda, Kenneth McDermott all of Madawaska, Michael Barber of Tampa, FL; two nieces, Kathy Evans of Madbury, NH, and Maureen Perez of Tampa, FL; one brother-in-law, Syd Barber of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita Michaud McDermott; his second wife, Aline Levesque McDermott; his sister, Lorraine Barber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 25 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Monday and from 9am until time of service on Tuesday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska.
