Portage Lake--- Francis Yves Vaillancourt, 75, passed away December 14, 2014 at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a long and hard battle with lung and heart issues and leukemia. He was born in Riviere Bleue, QC, Canada, on July 7, 1939, the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Alma (Theriault) Vaillancourt He was a resident of Portage Lake for over 48 years and worked as a millwright at former Pinkham Lumber for 42 years, where he was known as a "Jack of all Trades." He loved the Maine woods during all seasons with hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and especially going to Dean's for his daily cup of coffee. He was known by many for his smile, jokes and laughter, and he could always be called upon for lawn mowing and repairs of any sort. Francis was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Marks Council #2889, for over 50 years. He is survived by: his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeannine (Labonte) Vaillancourt; two sons, Michael Vaillancourt and his wife Wendy of Fort Kent and Danny Vaillancourt of Portage Lake; one brother, Noel Vaillancourt and his wife Josline of Riviere Bleue, QC, Canada; two sisters, Francine Landry and Lucy Lemay and her husband Jean-Pierre, all of Montreal, QC, Canada; and many special nieces and nephews, especially Lise Landry who often came to visit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Rte. 11, Portage Lake. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday 68PM and Saturday morning 9-10:45 AM at the church. Spring interment will be in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent.
