New Canada---Francis Harold Jalbert, born on July 1,1941 passed away suddenly on October 13,2022, with his wife by his side. Frank was the son of Herman and Evagaline Jalbert from New Canada.  Frank worked at the University of Maine at Fort Kent for many years where he enjoyed helping the faculty and students. He served his community as a selectman/chairperson for 27 years.  Frank is survived by his wife Bernice Jalbert, who he was married to for 59 years; his sister, Henrietta Hamilton of California; his five children, Janet Cassidy and her husband Bryan of Lewiston, Debbie Brinkman and her husband Chris of Farmington, Tina Libby and her husband Dan of Brunswick, Donna Freeman of Readfield, and Steven Jalbert and his wife Rebecca of South Berwick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather, Morgan, A.J, Gabrielle, Adrianna, Craig, Justin, Matthew, Ryan, Nathan and Ashley; also his great grandson, Walker. He enjoyed spending time with the Dumonds, his in-laws, friends, and family. Frank was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Patrick; his son, Herman; his son in law Jeffrey Freeman.  Frank loved going fishing with his fishing buddy Steve Dumond and their guide Jim Dumond. They had many great fishing "tales" to share with the family and Frank's grandchildren. He enjoyed his daily breakfast at Lake Road Grocery, doing sudoku and spending time with his friends playing cards.   A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the St. Joseph Church in Soldier Pond.  In keeping with Frank's wishes, there will be no visiting hours.  Interment will be held immediately following the service in the Parish Cemetery.
