He was born November 1, 1929 in Cyr Plantation, a son of the late Abel and Annie (Thibodeau) Lajoie and lived in Van Buren his entire life.

He served many years as director for the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Bruno Church, where he was a lifelong parishioner and a devoted usher. He was on the former local Civil Defense Department and was a certified EMT for the ambulance service. He will be sadly missed by: five children, Elaine Levesque and husband Maynard of Van Buren, Garnet Disy of Caribou, Sharon Nadeau and husband Jim, Kevin Lajoie, all of Presque Isle, and Allan Lajoie and wife Deb of Caribou; three siblings, John Lajoie of Van Buren, Bernard Lajoie and Anneleen Loughlin, both of Portsmouth, NH; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Garner was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine (Ouellette) Lajoie in 2010, and two brothers, Kenneth and Conrad Lajoie.
