Obituary

Fort Kent/Lee, Maine – Gary Gerald Caron born April 25, 1949 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 25, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Gary was born in Fort Kent, Maine to Emile Caron and Viola Martin Caron. Gary left school at a young age and began working for a potato farmer to help his parents support their family. A few years later he started driving a pulp truck along with his brother, Stanley. After moving to Lincoln to work for his father-in-law he saved enough money to buy his own truck and start his own business. He hauled wood for many wood crews and contractors developing a reputation of being a hard worker, often working day and night. After doing that for many years, he moved to Lee and started his own logging business, Gary Caron and Son Logging. He had contracts with International Paper and others growing his business over many years.

He and his former wife purchased a farm in Lee where they raised two children. They often mentored, entertained, influenced, and instilled their hard work ethic to many young people who enjoyed spending time working and playing on the farm.

Gary loved the outdoors spending time hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He always knew where the fish were biting and the deer were roaming. In his earlier years, he was known for his fast bright yellow Super Bee. He was also known for his hearty appetite, and love of lobster and king crab.

In later years after his family was grown, Gary returned to Fort Kent where he met his partner, Leone. He quickly became part of Leone's family and developed close friendships. Together through retirement they enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling, gardening, playing cards, and traveling for many years.

He recently enjoyed one last vacation in Florida with his family where they made memories to last a lifetime.  When recently asked what he enjoyed most about his life, he shared that it was spending time with his family, especially on the holidays.

Gary was a devoted partner, father and grandfather. He is survived by his partner, Leone Saucier; daughter, Sonia Maxwell and husband, Andrew, and son Jaimmie Caron and wife, Samantha; three grandchildren, Mallory Zanter and husband Ryan, Mason Maxwell, and Sierra Caron; two siblings, Stanley Caron and Gilmay, and Carol Soucy and husband Donald. He also leaves behind two special bonus sons, Tyler and Jacob Kuester, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Emile Caron; mother, Viola Martin Caron, and brother Clinton Caron.
