Obituary

St. Francis--- Gene Perreault, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her entire family and Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie. She was born on July 27, 1937 to Patrick and Essie (Pelletier) Nadeau. She's survived by the love of her life, Hubert "Bert" Perreault. Together they raised 4 children whom they considered their greatest accomplishment in life; Kent (Jenny) of New Canada, Dean (Amy) of Fort Kent, and Patti (John) of St. Francis, 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren. Gene graduated high school and went on to work in the woods for her father as a clerk for about 20 years. She then put herself through college while working full time, raising a family, and taking care of her husband's books as well. Gene graduated from UMFK in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in education and was certified in special education. Immediately upon graduating, she took a job for SAD #27 and taught for 25 years. Gene loved to research and was dedicated to preserving history for many years. In 1986 she published a collection of short stories of Acadian History, "Memories Grow on Trees". After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering her time to the St. Francis Historical Society and helping in any way she could for her children and friends. Gene was a very devoted Catholic, and prayed faithfully to our Blessed Mother. Her faith was instilled in all her children. Gene is also survived by her brothers Valeric Nadeau, Ronald (Lauraine) Nadeau, Vernal (Pauline) Nadeau, a very special God daughter Vicky Boucher, a special niece Joni Daigle, and a special cousin Janice Grimaldi; Gene was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Essie (Pelletier) Nadeau; sisters, Patricia Albert and Dawn Clavette; youngest son, Bob Perreault, whom she missed every second of her life; and many other family members, who Gene loved so very much. During her last days, our mother wanted to go home and she wanted a miracle. On June 5, 2020, at 5:05PM, with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie and her entire family by her side, we witnessed the miracle our mother embraced by our Blessed Mother and Our Lord Jesus Christ. A Mass of Christian burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. John Vianney Parish, C/O St. Charles, 26 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements have been entrusted by Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
