Genesta (Gerow) Roy

Eagle Lake--- Genesta A. Roy, 80, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a short illness. She was born July 17, 1946, in Edmundston, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Harold and Greta (Soule) Gerow and was a graduate from Ashland High School.

Genesta obtained her nursing degree from Maine Medical Center, Portland, and went on to enlist with the US Army during Vietnam. She served honorably in Korea in the Army hospital before returning to the states. She last worked with Northern Maine Medical Center for many years and previously was a nurse with Eagle Lake’s former Mercy Home. She was an avid reader and could spend hours engrossed in a good book. Genesta was also a self-trained seamstress and was a wonderful crafter. Her favorite memories were weekly Roy family get-togethers.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Roy and his fiancée Kim of Hollis; her spouse Edford Roy of Eagle Lake; her siblings, Sybil Montero of Connecticut, P. “Stan” Gerow of Tennessee, and Richard Gerow of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Lombard Rd., Caribou.
