Blier

Van Buren--- Gerald E. Blier, 87, was called to join his beloved wife in Heaven on January 16, 2022. Born November 27, 1934 in Keegan, he was a son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Ouellette) Blier.
Gerald last worked several years with RF Chamberland, St. Agatha, driving long hauls. Previously he was a trucker in New Hampshire
He was a devoted parishioner of St. Bruno-St Remi Church, attended mass weekly, and was a long-time member the parish's choir. Gerald was actively involved in the community serving on the school board, town council, as well as Town Manager for several years. He was exceptionally proud to be a lifetime member of the Knight of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, Van Buren. Gerald loved to spend time with his wife, Edwina, and would dance the night away, especially square dancing. He liked to stay home to care of his cats and watch sports on television.
He is survived by two children, Debbie Grothaus and her husband Mike of New Mexico, and Gerry Blier and his wife Barbara of Van Buren; two siblings, Cecile Bouchard of Fort Fairfield and Roland Blier and wife Priscilla of Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Isaac, Jeremy, Sam, Anna, Amy, Mary, Jarret and Stephanie; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gerald is predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Edwina (Michaud) Blier in 2018, and fifteen siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, July 1, 2022 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald's name may be made to: Knights of Columbus Parish Needs Fund, 284 Main St., Van Buren, ME 04785. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
