August 28, 1939 – October 10, 2021
FRENCHVILLE AND SAINT FRANCIS – Gerard Leonide Pelletier, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away on October 10, 2021, at a Frenchville healthcare facility with his loving family at his side. He was born the middle child of Leonide and Leanna (Nadeau) Pelletier, on August 28, 1939. He married Judith Carmichael on April 20, 1963, and together they raised 7 children. He went to school in St. Francis and Fort Kent and graduated in 1957. He then went on to enlist in the United States Army for three years, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity in active Federal Military service. After returning from enlisted service, he went to work for Great Northern where he met Judy. In 1977, they bought Gerard's General Store and moved the family to Saint Francis. After selling the store in 2000, he worked for SAD 27 and for the St. John Vianney Parish Cemetery. Dad will forever be known for his faith, his humor, his work ethic, and his strong family values. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Judy, his children and their families: Kevin and Tracy (Sullivan); Michael and Jan (Golding), Andrew, Daniel and Samantha (Savarese), Emily; Jeffery and Jessica (Chutka), Karly (Holmes) and Anthony Bonavenia, and their daughter Joelle, and Kaleb Holmes; Jason and Jennifer (Parmalee), Alexis Parent, Justin, and Adam; Leanna Dumais, Desiree, and Morgan; Mary; Heather and Marvin Hopkins, Brian, and Katy; his sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Judson Holmquist, his three brothers, Charles "Kit" Pelletier, Conrad Pelletier, and Joel Pelletier, three foster sisters, Debbie (Michaud) Dubois, Linda (Michaud) Nicholson, and Phyllis (Maskell) Dubois; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother (Joseph), a sister (Theresa), and two grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph's Memory Care Center for the exemplary care and service that they provided to Dad over the past year. We are forever grateful to all of you. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, October 15, 2021, at St. Charles Catholic Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021, and from 8-9am on Friday before the Mass. Burial will be at the new St. Charles Cemetery in St. Francis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Charles Parish Food Pantry or the St. Joseph's Memory Care Center Activity Fund.
