Madawaska---Germaine Branscombe, 85, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2013 at a local health care facility. She was born in Madawaska on April 15, 1927, daughter of the late Mathias and Alvine (Pelletier) Albert. Upon graduation from high school, she worked for Fraser Paper as a mail carrier. In the spring of "1948" is when she met the love of her life, Arthur L. Branscombe at a sugar camp. They married on October 25 of that same year. They made their home in Madawaska and together raised their three children. Throughout the years they made many friends in the area. They enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending time with family and did spend some time doing a bit of camping at Long Lake during the summers for a number of years. Germaine was a homemaker and loved to shop, purchasing lots of beautiful clothes for her family throughout the years. She loved picnics, especially on the 4th of July even if they had to be spent inside the garage for shelter from the bad weather. She also loved Christmas and buying lots of gifts for everyone. She had a generous spirit. When their health allowed, they enjoyed taking a few trips downstate to visit with family and see their grandchildren. Germaine is survived by two daughters, Patricia Wrisley and her husband Dayton of Lisbon Falls, Linda Cyr and her husband Roland of Allagash; one son, Allen Branscombe and his wife Joyce of Madawaska; eight grandchildren, Brian Wrisley, Jessica Porter, Karen Wrisley, Cindy Daigle, Vicky Cyr, Davis Cyr, Travis Branscombe, and Erica Thibodeau; six great grandchildren, Michelle, Connor, Kaitlyn, Cyprian, MacKenzie, and Kristiana; two sisters, Yvette Martin of Madawaska, and Alice Cormier of Presque-Isle; three brothers, Lucien Albert of California, Normand Albert of Florida, Camille Albert of Caribou. She was predeceased by her husband on July 8, 2010, two sisters, Rita Albert and Laurette Bisson; a brother, Leo Albert. At this time, our family would like to extend our thank you to all the staff at High View Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care, love and concern that was extended to our mom during her entire stay there. Everyone has done an excellent job. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Thursday and from 9am until time of service on Friday. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
