Madawaska---Germaine Cyr, 89, passed away at Northern Maine Medical Center on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. She was born December 16, 1923, daughter of the late Denis and Philomene (Gendreau) Lagasse. She is a graduate of Madawaska High School, Class of 1943. After graduation, she aided the war effort by working at the Colt Factory in Connecticut. She moved back to Madawaska and was employed by Fraser Paper as a Paper inspector in the finishing room. Germaine was an avid reader and loved music. She also enjoyed traveling and did so often with her daughter and family. She visited places such as Sedona, AZ, Cocoa Beach and Key West, FL, and New Orleans, LA. Later in life, she was always willing and eager to participate in all activities while she was a resident of Ridgewood Estates and Highview Manor. Germaine is survived by: her daughter, Armande Marston of Madawaska; three grandsons, Lee Marston and his wife Nicole of Portland, Douglas Marston and his wife Jennifer of Windham, and Greg Marston and his wife Kristin of Brewer. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Noah, Trip, Jake and Iyla. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Armand; two brothers, Oniel and Fernand Lagasse; four sisters, Jeannette White, Antoinette Therrien, Alvine Lagasse and Laurette Dechaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at Lajoie Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept 25., from 6-8 pm and from 8:30am until 9:30am on Thursday.
