VAN BUREN – Ghislaine "Josie" Violette 71, passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2021, with her two daughters by her side. She was born in Siegas, New Brunswick, Canada on August 21, 1949, a daughter of the late Euclide and Louise (Tardif) Desjardins.
In 1966 she married Nelson Violette in Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick. Ghislaine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family very much and each one of them had a special place in her heart. She loved to cook and bake her favorite foods especially during the holidays and family gatherings.
Ghislaine is survived by her two daughters, Sonia Dubay and her husband Paul of Palm City, FL, and Kim Morin and her fiancé John Levasseur of Caribou, ME; her three beloved grandchildren, Adam Dubay, Natalie and Eric Morin; her longtime companion, Gil Thibodeau; a brother, Jeannot Desjardins; four sisters, Hermaine Michaud, Juliette Tardif, Huguette Michaud and Martine Desjardins; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Ghislaine was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Violette, two brothers, Harold and Odeo Desjardins, and three sisters, Nilka Lefrancois, Ursule Ouellette and Mildred Carrier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Interment will follow at Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ghislaine's memory may be made to: Halfway Home Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 488, Caribou, Maine 04736.
