Madawaska---Gilbert J. Cyr, Sr., 71, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2010 at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born in Madawaska on June 12, 1939 , the son of Jean Baptiste and Delphine (Lagasse) Cyr. Gilbert worked at Fraser Paper for thirty five years. Gilbert leaves behind a family of six children, Cindy Lavoie and her companion Charles, Gilbert Cyr, Jr. and his wife Valrie, Deborah Levesque and her husband Hervin, John Cyr and his wife Sharol, Leo Cyr and his wife Sharon, Susan Ouellette and her husband Richard; sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Gilmay Deschaine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am on Thursday, December 23 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 8am until time of service on Thursday.
