Van Buren--- Gilbert C. Sirois, 74, died peacefully Saturday, April 9, 2016 at a Caribou hospital, following a long illness, surrounded by his friends and family. He was born July 24, 1941 in Van Buren, a son of the late Jean and Alma (Fournier) Sirois.

Gilbert last worked as a supervisor with former Blier's Cedar Mill, Van Buren, for many years. His love of woodworking continued with several St. John Valley contractors and especially assisting his children and friends with many custom projects around their homes.

He is survived by: two children, Ricky Sirois and his fiancée Jess Cyr and Lisa Labreck and her fiancé Rick Roy, all of Van Buren; four siblings, Ginger Levasseur and her husband Conrad of Lewiston, Richard Sirois and his wife Lorraine, Fern Rodrigues and Betty Lemieux and her husband Tommy, all of New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Ceara, Ethan, Hailey and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marlene (Gagnon) Sirois and four siblings, Adrian and Armand Sirois and Jeanne and Edna Perreault.
