IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gilda
Moshier
June 28, 1942 – March 24, 2022
Frenchville---Gilda Marie (Paradis) Moshier of Frenchville died peacefully in her sleep while in hospice care at her home, in accordance with her wishes. Gilda was born in Frenchville on June 28, 1942, the oldest child of Leo and Juliette (Albert) Paradis. When Gilda was a young adult, her mother and younger brother Camille passed away in an automobile accident, at which point, she stepped into the role of family matriarch. She lived her life embracing that role. Her greatest joy was being a mom and a Mimi. She was blessed with four children of her own – Michael, Mark, Tracie, and Martin, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. But her "family" was much broader. Many found a safe haven and a warm meal inside the walls of Gilda's home over the years. She always welcomed her family, friends and friends of her family with equal enthusiasm and a caring heart, making everyone who knew her feel special. Gilda found her true partner in life when she married her doting and devoted husband Wayne in 1977. She traveled the world as an Air Force spouse, raising her family in faraway places like Japan, and all over the United States, but eventually returning to Frenchville, the only place that would ever truly be home, when Wayne retired from the military. Gilda was talented working with her hands and enjoyed a short career as a cosmetologist. Gilda loved to fish, and passed that joy to her children and grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to catch trout from the local brooks during warmer weather and was equally successful in her ice-cabin during the winter. Her other great pleasures included crafting and crocheting, watching horror movies all night long while the rest of the world was sleeping, and loving on her pets. But more than anything else in this world, she loved spending as much time as possible with her family. Just a month prior to her death, Gilda suffered her greatest heartbreak when her dear daughter Tracie Garcia unexpectedly passed away. Gilda was also predeceased by her parents, her sisters Ida and Joan, her brothers Joseph, Camille and Eddie, and her grandson Michael Jr. Keeping her memory alive is her husband Wayne, her sons Michael Jerkins, Mark Jerkins, and Martin Jerkins, her granddaughters Destiny Garcia, Charity Garcia, Aurora Jerkins, Emily Jerkins, and Molly Jerkins, her great grandson Konnor Theriault, her great granddaughter, Aubriana Alvarez; her brothers, Phillip and Edward, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held later this spring.
