Fort Kent---Gilma Sylvain, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on January 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Fort Kent on April 18, 1935, daughter of the late Theodule and Phoebe (Pelletier) Voisine.  She enjoyed spending her time doing puzzles and reading.  She was a woman of faith and a communicant of St. Louis Church, attending Mass every weekend.  She loved spending time with her family, but especially loved being with her grandchildren.  She was very proud that she had three 5th generation grandchildren.  Gilma is survived by seven children, Denis Sylvain and his wife Barbara of Frenchville, Philip Sylvain of Fort Kent, Roger Sylvain and his wife Annette of North Carolina, Norma Cyr of Fort Kent, Patricia Gregoire of Augusta, Diana Sylvain of Fort Kent, Michael Sylvain and his wife Michelle of Fort Kent; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Cassandra, Michelle, Thomas, Melissa, Lisa, Krystal, Jamie, Randy, Travis; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Walker Baker of Greenbush; one sister-in-law, Joan Sylvain of Fort Kent; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Sylvain; two children, Lisa Shaw and Mary Helen Cyr; three brothers.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the St. Louis Church.  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation.  Interment will take place in the Parish Cemetery in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gilma's memory may be made to Crosswinds Residential Care activity fund, 40 Village Rd., Fort Kent, ME 04743.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
