IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gilman
Desjardins
April 27, 1939 – January 5, 2024
Frenchville – Gilman "Pitou" Desjardins, 84, passed away on January 5, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 27, 1939, in St. David, the son of the late Gilbert and Delima (Fongemie) Desjardins. He is survived by his five children – Paula (Mitchell) Dumond, St. Agatha ME; Michael (Monica), Derry NH; Wayne, Frenchville ME; Lisa (Bruce Chasse), Pace FL; Linda (Jared) Krok, Southampton, MA; 5 grandchildren - Robyn (Ricky) Nadeau, Alyssa Dumond, Levi (Hannah) Desjardins, Faith Bennett, Kara Bennett; 2 great-grandchildren – Vada and Micah Desjardins. Pitou is survived by his sisters; Pauline (Roger) Madore, Patricia Knight; and brothers, Francis (Fern) and Phillip (Carol). He leaves behind many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Pitou was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Levesque) of 58 years; four sisters Cecile, Omerine, Nancy, Leola; and two brothers, Louis and Patrick. After 33 years, Pitou retired from Fraser Paper. He took great pride in his work, not only at Fraser, but in his work with drywall and textured ceilings. Pitou enjoyed spending time with family and Saturday was time to enjoy the beans he made for dinner. He was often heard asking "want to take a game" meaning poker, dice or cribbage. He enjoyed spending time with his brother, Francis, helping with wood-working projects, building furniture pieces for family. Pitou visited several Nascar tracks. In the summer he enjoyed soaking up the sunshine. He could be found on the back deck overseeing the river, Canada and counting the number of engines on the trains as they passed by. If you happened to be on the deck with him, you could be sure he'd tell you the number of bricks in the fireplace he built with the family. He was loved by many and will be missed. Graveside service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luce Cemetery.
