Van Buren--- Gilman Morin, 90, died April 27, 2020 at a Van Buren healthcare facility, with his loving family at his side. He was born January 4, 1930 in Keegan, Maine, son of the late Emile and Elise (Morin) Morin.
Gilman started life on his parents' potato & cattle farm during the Great Depression, when life was of a different era. The family raised beef, chickens, milked cows, sold fresh vegetables, made butter and fresh bread. In the late 50's and early 60's, Gilman worked in the Boiler System at Limestone Air Base while also working alongside his father on the family farm in Keegan. His background gave him an interest in becoming a member of Agriculture Bargaining Council, Maine Potato Grower, Maine Potato Board, Van Buren Planning & Budget Committees, MSAD #24 School Board, Knights of Columbus, 4 th Degree Assembly, Chairman of St. Remi Parish Council, and his greatest pride of being President of the Aroostook County Action Program Policy Council for about 30 years.
He leaves his wife Aurella (Gervais) Morin of 60 years of Van Buren, his children Angela Gagnon and her husband John of New Sweden, John Morin and wife Jheri "Skip", Steven Morin, and Gloria Guerrette and husband Wayne, all of Van Buren, his sisters Viola (Morin) Ouellette and Benita (Morin) Ouellette and her husband Gerard, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gilman was predeceased by a brother Ronald Morin, a sister Thelma (Morin) Gervais, a great grandson, Noah Ryan Guerrette, a half-brother Medor Parent, half-sister Alfreda (Parent) Clavette, and half-sister Jeanne D'Arc (Parent) Corriveau.
The family of Gilman extends their appreciation to the caregivers and staff at the Borderview Nursing Home for the last 2 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated privately at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
