Portage Lake--- Gloria D. Belanger, 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest June 24, 2021, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. She was born August 24, 1936, in Portage, a daughter of the late William and Blanche (Bragdon) Bolstridge.

She attended former Ricker College after completing high school and rode the train every day from Buffalo to Houlton. She met and married her loving husband, Roderick "Dick", then relocated to Connecticut for a short time. Gloria was a dedicated mother and had her hands full wrangling and raising her five rascally children and caring for her trucker husband. Later she worked many years for Ashland's former Jud's Convenience Store. Her hands were skilled in cooking delicious family meals, baking, canning, pickling, and her family's favorite, making strawberry jam. She cherished her many years babysitting many of her grandchildren in her family home throughout the years. Gloria was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies' Sodality.

She is lovingly remembered by: five children, Andy Belanger, Alan Belanger and his wife Nola, Gary Belanger and his wife Lori, all of Portage, Steven Belanger and his wife Marilyn and Lynn Jones and her husband Darrel, all of Oregon; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Roderick "Dick" Belanger, in 2003, and her brother, Malcolm Bolstridge.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside celebration at 2 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery, Portage Rd./Route 11, Portage. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
