Obituary

Madawaska, ME/Wildwood, FL----Gloria Breau Daigle passed away peacefully in Wildwood, Florida on February 9, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born in Edmundston, N.B., Canada, on June 8, 1925, one of three children of Evelyn Bernier Breau and Joe Breau. She spent her childhood in Edmundston and enjoyed many fond memories of summers growing up at Lac Unique in the province of New Brunswick. These included many hours swimming in the cool lake with friends and family as well as picking wild berries. In 1946, she married Joffre Daigle and they settled in Madawaska, Maine where Joffre opened Daigle's Drugs which they operated for more than 35 years. For Gloria, family was everything. She always put her children and their well being first. Gloria always welcomed her children's friends both at home and at their camp on Long Lake in Northern Maine where they all enjoyed many beautiful summers. Later in life, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and often said that they were what kept her going. Gloria was both a mother and great friend to each of her children. She lived her life with kindness, with a brilliant smile and an incredibly-strong positive attitude. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joffre Daigle, and her brother Roderick Breau (Rowena) and is survived by her brother, George Breau (Barbara), four children: Joffre Jr. ( Rita), Parise Skoczenski (Bob), Lynn Michaud (Don), John (Eva) and nine grandchildren, Alyssa Stuart (Cam), Katie Daigle (Karl Alexander), Eric Skoczenski (Shelby), Brian Skoczenski (Allison), Pierre Michaud (Michele), Andre Michaud (Megan), Guy Michaud, Erina Dempsey (Elliot Gonzalez), Gallagher Dempsey (Nicole). She also had 12 great grandchildren, Abigail Stuart, Dominic, Bobbie, Atticus and Lydia Skoczenski, Olivia, Sophia, Gabe, Conor and Natalie Michaud, Anabel and Jak Dempsey. Gloria is also survived by a very special cousin, Jacqueline Davidson. She will be missed by many. But this is not "good bye". As Gloria would frequently say, its just: " Bye, for now." A celebration of her life is scheduled at 10am on August 27, 2021, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Madawaska, Maine, with calling hours from 9-9:45am.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cornerstone Hospice Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares FL 32778. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral home.
