CLERMONT, FL - Hazel M. Garrity Bushey of Portage, Maine, born August 31, 1932, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family who will miss her dearly.

Hazel was born in Portage Lake, Maine to Albert and Roseanna Garrity and moved to Ashland at a very young age. Hazel married husband Raymond in 1952. Ray and Hazel started their own insurance business in Ashland after the Korean War, and that ultimately led to a merger with the Dunlap Insurance Agency in the early 60's, and their subsequent retirement in 1988.

Hazel was passionate about faith and raising a loving family. She was charitable, optimistic, self-reliant and beloved by all.  She loved her children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.  She loved hosting family and friends at holidays and family gatherings. Hazel truly enjoyed cooking and gardening and sharing both with visitors. Hazel also participated in several activities including Sodality of Our Lady, Cub Scouts Den Mother and President of the Portage Ladies Golf League.

Hazel is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Raymond J. Bushey, a baby infant girl, father Albert Garrity, Sr, mother Roseanna Soucy Garrity, sisters Geneva Morin, Ruth Pelletier, brothers, Albert Garrity, Jr., and Roger Garrity.

Hazel is survived by sons, Kevin and wife, Mary, of Ashland, (their children, Sarah and Pamela(Jeff)); and Stephen and wife, Margaret of South Portland, Maine, (sons, Jack (Moira), William; daughter, Marty; and great grandchildren, Maeve, Hazel and Beau); brother-in law, Donald (Sharon) of Cumberland, Maine; and many nieces, nephews, all whom she loved dearly.

Hazel was an extraordinary mother, wife, family host, friend, and role model. She lived life to the fullest and will be missed by her family and many friends.

A church service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at St. Mark's Church, Allen Farm Rd., Ashland.
