Ashland--- Hazel E. Hall, 99, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born August 20, 1919, in New Sweden, a daughter of the late Carl and Annie (Lindberg) Carlson.
Hazel and her husband Harvey lived in Houlton for many years where they raised their three boys and she managed the Temple Theater in the 1970's . She and Harvey retired to Woolwich for several years before she relocated to Ashland in 1988 after Harvey's death. She loved living near her son Larry and his wife Anne. She adored visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nicknamed her great granddaughters the "Sunshine Girls." Hazel enjoyed being outside and taking long walks in the woods around her home. Rarely having idle hands, she stitched and sewed over 100 quilts for her family.
Her quilts are family heirlooms that will be cherished through many more generations. She loved baking and her specialties because of family requests were rye bread, cinnamon rolls, and THE best apple and mincemeat pies ! The mincemeat pie recipe is carried on by her granddaughter Donika.
She is survived by: one son, Leland Hall of Camden; four grandchildren, Joel & Toby Hall and Donika Jordan and Nathan Footer; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by Harvey Hall, her husband of almost 50 years, two sons, Leslie and Larry Hall, and nine siblings.
In keeping with Hazel's wishes, funeral services were private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
