ASHLAND--- Herbert "Hubie" Boulier, 91, of Ashland, died peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 22, 2013 at Maine Veteran's Home, Caribou. He was born in Sheridan June 9, 1922, a son of Thomas and Clara (Saucier) Boulier. He enlisted with the US Army and served with the 501st Engineers Light Ponton Company during WWII in areas of western Germany, Italy, southern France and central Europe. After his honorable discharge, he continued to work with as an engineer with the Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center in Togus/Augusta for over 23 years. After his retirement in 1970, he returned to his hometown in Ashland. He was a member and former service officer of VFW Leblanc-Jenkins, Post # 9699, the American Legion, Post #109, former Ashland Fish & Game Club, and the Ashland Rotary Club. Hubie was a very special person to Salina O'Clair and all her children and considered a member of the family. He will be greatly missed by all. Herbert is survived by: a brother, Wilson Boulier of Columbia, CT; and many special friends in and around Ashland. He is predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Smoler) Boulier, his sister Emily Gadbis, and brothers Joseph, Clifford and Gilbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 30, at 1 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Ashland, followed by military honors. Relatives and friends may call Monday morning, 11 AM until 12:45 PM at the church. Spring internment will be in Gilman Cemetery, Denmark, ME.
