Madawaska---Herby J. Fortin, 80, passed away on February 20, 2019 at a Fort Kent health care facility.  He was born in Lille on October 10, 1938, a son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Cyr) Fortin.  Herby retired from Fraser Papers after thirty-five years.  His passions were auto body work, getting fresh air on the porch while listening to music, and enjoying ice cream.  His most important pass time was enjoying time with his family.  He was a man of few words and a generous man with a big heart.  He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Mirelle (Dionne) Fortin of Madawaska; four children, Renee Fortin-Shoemaker of Windham, Bonnie Pelletier and her husband Richard of Edmundston, NB, Kelly Houde and her husband Tim of Saco, Scott Fortin and his wife Rachel of Frenchville; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Angelo Fortin and his companion Edd Bales of Tennessee, Ronaldo "Bee" Fortin and his wife Mona of Madawaska; many nieces and nephews.  Herby was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the St. David Church.  Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm on Sunday, February 24.  There will be no visiting hours on Monday before the service.
