Grand Isle/Madawaska---Herby Lavertu, 93, passed away November 4, 2022, at a Madawaska health care facility.  He was born in Grand Isle on September 4, 1929, son of the late Ernest and Winnie (Caron) Lavertu.  He is survived by two children, Marlene Pono and her husband Joe of Bath, Steven Lavertu and wife Dian of St. Andre, New Brunswick; five grandchildren, Elyse, Anthony, Jared, Sonia, Amy; two great grandchildren, Odin and Carter; four siblings, Elmer, Dorothy, Bernice, and Viola; many nieces and nephews.  Herby was predeceased by his wife, Marcelle (Albert) Lavertu; five siblings, Norman, Lucien, Manus, Pauline, and Yvette.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.  Family and friends may offer their condolences from 9am until 9:45am on Thursday at the church before the Mass.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
