Grand Isle---Herman A. Cyr “Papoo”, 75, passed away on February 26, 2026, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born in Eagle Lake on August 18, 1950, son of the late Louis J. and Aline (Levesque) Cyr.
He worked for forty-one years at Fraser Paper and kept in touch with many of his coworkers after retirement. He enjoyed putting around the house with his tractor, doing various jobs. He loved taking rides on his ATV and being out in the woods. He loved listening to country music. Everyone knew Papoo as a jokester, always making people laugh. Spending time with his family was his favorite pastime, they were his biggest treasure.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel (Chasse) Cyr; one son, Christopher Cyr and his wife Jennica of Fort Kent; two daughters, Jennifer Cyr and her significant other Corey Gendreau of Frenchville, Alexis Cote and her husband Justin of Fort Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Dominick, Aleck, Annick, Brantley, Dawson, Aubrey and Matthew Marston; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Nancy Chasse and one brother, Carroll Cyr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the St. Gerard Church. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Saturday before the Mass from 9am until 9:45am
