Madawaska---Herman "Mario" Conde Plourde of Madawaska, passed away April 13th, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 81. He was born in Edmundston, NB on August 18th, 1943, Son of the late Johnny and Alma (Turgeon) Plourde. Mario was the devoted husband of Ghislaine (Morneault) Plourde for 57 years and the loving father of Steve, Jimmy, and Naomi Plourde. He was also the beloved grandfather of 4 grandchildren, Dustin Plourde, Shelby Ouellette, Brittney Plourde, and Aubriella Saunders, and 1 great grandchild, Jaycee Ouellette.  Mario is survived by his brothers Hermel and Hervé Plourde, brothers-in-law Norman Kenny and Maurice Couturier, and sister-in-law, Monique Plourde.  In addition to his parents, Mario was pre-deceased by his sisters, Dorothy Plourde, Shirley Lagacé, Jocelyne Kenny, Sonya (Peder) Pederson, Thérèse Couturier and his brothers Gilbert, Donald, and Alban Plourde.  Mario married the love of his life in 1967 and then served in the US Army from 1967-1969. Afterwards, he worked at Fraser Paper for 34 years as a pipefitter. Mario got a chance to enjoy his retirement for the last 21 years. He was a hard-working man who loved helping others in any way he could; a jack of all trades kind of man. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, tinkering in the garage, line dancing, hunting, and boy did he love telling stories with a good cup of hot coffee. Mario talked to everyone, there were no strangers in his eyes. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace now and watch over his family and friends.  A Celebration of life will be held May 31, 2025, from 9am to 11am at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska.
