Obituary

St. Francis---Ida (Goodboe) Jandreau, 93, born in Allagash on October 19, 1925, died peacefully in her home and joined her heavenly family on December 7, 2018, after a long and beautiful life.  The eldest daughter of Rosaire and Sally (Kelly) Goodbout she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Ida was a beautiful, caring, wife and mother.  Known for her shyness, she still managed to be a gentle, tiny, warrior woman.  At a young age she had to find work to help her parents through times of financial difficulties.   She carried that work ethic through her entire life. Ida's passions were first and foremost her family. She and her husband Lucien were married for over 70 years.  She would often say that when she looked at him, even in their last days together, she saw that teenage boy she fell in love with so many years before. She was so proud of her sons, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they in turn loved her dearly.  Her other passion in life was her love of books, reading, and words.   Books were a rarity in her childhood so she cherished every book she received throughout her life.  She loved doing crossword puzzles.  When she discovered a new word, she'd write it into the back of her worn dictionary.   She was known to underline passages of things that touched her heart within her readings.  Ida was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Romeo and Leonard Goodbout and a sister Ruth O'Leary. She has two remaining sisters, Nada Dubray and Joan Cyr. She was the mother of nine children: Roderick and his wife Thelma (Daigle) Jandreau, Jeffrey (deceased), Joan (deceased), Russell and his wife June (Chase) Jandreau, Jenelle Hurd, Royal Jandreau, Loren and his wife Sara (Pelletier) Jandreau, Julie and her husband Keith Jackson and Lesa and her husband Danny Ouellette; grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 7.   She will be missed by her children and grandchildren and remembered for all the wisdom she instilled in them.  Each one remembering the times they sat with her in the living room talking about their life and giving to each and every one her words of wisdom and encouragement to live a good happy life.  Above all she wanted her family to be happy no matter what direction they took in life.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Friday, December 14, 2018 at St. Charles Church in St. Francis.  Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle funeral Home from 9am until 10:30am on Friday before the Service.  Spring interment will take place in the new St. Francis cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Greater Fort Kent Ecumenical Food Pantry 229 West Main Street, Suite 103, Fort Kent, ME  04743.
