Madawaska- Irene Albert, 94, passed away on April 21, 2023, at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in Madawaska on November 9, 1928, daughter of the late Raymond and Laura (Chamberlain) Daigle. You may remember Irene from her days of employment at Northern Trading for 16 years. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 147 for over 65 years serving as secretary, two years as treasurer, and two years as president. She also served as assistant cook for the St. Agatha Seniors for four years. Irene enjoyed painting scenery, knitting, quilling, cross stitching, playing cards, summers at the camp, and being with family and friends. Irene is survived by John M Parent and wife Carlene of Auburn, Me., Patrick Parent and wife Suzanne of Windham, Me., Michael Parent and wife Jennifer of Manchester, Me, and was predeceased by her daughter Helen P. Rogers of Sun City, Fl. She has six grandchildren; Jessica Couto, Eric Hackett, Stacie Kunas, Kellie LaRochelle, John Parent, Laura Parent, and seven great grandchildren, Sarah and Emily Couto, EJ, Nathan, & Chase Hackett, and Bode & Fin Kunas. Irene is also survived by her brother Norman Daigle of Waldoboro, Me., and sister Verna Dobson of S. Windsor, Ct. Irene was predeceased by her first husband Roland Parent, her second husband Clarence J. Albert; her sisters Rita Pelletier and Gladys Dumais, and brothers Patrick, Herby, Donald, and Edwin Daigle, and step daughter Gloria Albert. Irene wanted to mention a special thank you to her God child Allen Parent and his wife, Tina for always being there. At her request, a graveside service will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in Madawaska, May 8 th at 10:00 am. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Country Village Estates and High View Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed to Irene and family during her time in their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edgar Paradis Cancer Fund.
