Ashland--- Irene B. Chandler, 86, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born March 17, 1929 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Angus and Delia (Morrow) Burby.

Irene owned and operated former Chris' Diner, Ashland, for over 18 years and Chris' Motel & Restaurant almost 10 years. She loved to dote on her little pooch, Pumpkin.

She is survived by: two daughters, Cheryl Pool and her husband James of Ft. Pierce, FL and Chris McPherson and her husband Stuart of Ashland; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Irene is predeceased by her husband Wendell D. Chandler, a sister, Pauline Clark, and two brothers Fred and Richard Burby.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 10AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Sheridan.
