MADAWASKA - Irene Marie Ouellet passed away suddenly but peacefully with loved ones by her side on July 15, 2023, at NMMC in Fort Kent. She was born in Madawaska on November 20, 1948. The 6th of 12 children born to Henry and Delia (Lagasse) Beaulieu, she was predeceased by her husband Ghislain Ouellet, a son, Sylvain, and 4 siblings. Florence, Pauline, Gerard, and Verna. Irene is survived by three children, Alain, Stephane, Daniel; two grandchildren, Madison and Serenity; seven siblings, Charlene, Mona, Larry, Don, Joanne, Celia, Diane; many nieces and nephews. As a teenager, Irene was part of her high school volleyball and cheerleading teams. She was 1st runner-up for Miss Centennial during the 1969 Centennial fair, her talent was singing. She worked for a perfume factory in her hometown and as a clerk in a clothing store before getting married to the love of her life that same year. She then devoted herself as homemaker, loving wife, and caring mother. She enjoyed her daily walks and meeting friends at the local coffee shop. She was a volunteer for church charities for 16 years. Irene regularly prayed for others and would often sing part of a song to a person if she wanted to make them smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday July 20, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Relatives and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska from 9am until 9:45am on Thursday before the Mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
