Obituary

Van Buren--- On September 26, 2025, The Lord came to get one of his angels, and after waiting 97 years, Irma Ouellette went with Him, rosary in hand.

Born on February 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Susanne (Sirois) Lagasse and was the fifth of ten children. Raised on a farm in the back settlements of St David, ME, she attended school in Madawaska, at times by horse drawn carriage.

Besides her parents, Irma was predeceased by her husband Dolland Ouellette, youngest son, Gary, eight siblings, Gerald, Ned, Leonard, Emile, and Joseph Lagasse, Marie Johnston, Theresa Byram, and Eloise Belanger, and a daughter-in law, Rhonda.

She is survived by five of six children. Bob & Marie (Cyr) Ouellette of Van Buren, Dianne (Ouellette) & Lorne Madore of Van Buren. Roland & Rhonda Ouellette of Fairbanks, AK, Michael & Kathy (DeNike) Ouellette of Princeton, IA, and John & Marlene (Dubay) Ouellette of St David, ME; daughter-in-law, Linda (Berube) Ouellette of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Chad, Teresa, Cory, Lindsey, Jacob, Chelsea and Marissa; nine great grandchildren, Camryn, Sydney, Zaine, Gage, Maren, Kendra, Levi, Charlie and Dani; one sister, Alma Hesse of Florida; and many nieces and nephews

She will be remembered as a hard-working, fiercely devoted, loving mother and a loyal friend.  She was a determined and tireless homemaker, who also took on extra work, such as baking wedding cakes, picking potatoes and sewing. She was employed by the JJ Newberry Co. for many years. Then she earned CNA license and worked the night shift at Borderview nursing home for over twenty years. AND, somehow, she found time to join her friends on the local bowling team, the legion auxiliary and the Columbiettes. Into her 80's, she enjoyed dancing, camping and even ATVing.

We will never forget how this pretty petite lady showed us how to work hard, enjoy the simple life, and to age gracefully without complaint.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren.
