Obituary

HAMLIN--- J. Donald "Don" Ouellet, 73, died peacefully Thursday, June 5, 2014, at a Caribou hospital with his family at his side. He was born June 15, 1940 in St. Basile, NB, Canada, a son of the late Prudent and Eva (Pelletier) Ouellet. He worked many years in Colorado and Connecticut as a self-employed roofer and carpenter. He was also a truck driver for Reynolds Trucking and Coca-Cola in Connecticut. Most recently, he took pride in managing his rental properties in Van Buren and helping his wife operate the Don and Donna Diner, Van Buren. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree Assembly, council 1635. Don enjoyed tending to his garden and riding four-wheeler all over the county. He loved playing cards with friends and family and taking his wife out dancing. Don is survived by: his wife of 13 years, Donna (Castonguay) Ouellet of Hamlin; three children, Norman "Alex" Ouellet and his wife Jacqueline of Grand Falls, NB, Canada, Joseph D. Ouellet, Jr. and his companion Kathy Banks of Mansfield, CT, and Kimberly Rockhold and her partner Dan of Van Buren; two sisters, Bernice Lausier of Oakland and Jeannine Grivois and her husband Norman of Lecanato, FL; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Don is predeceased by a son, Thomas D. Ouellet, and siblings, Frank Ouellet, and Mildred Gervais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, June 9, 2014, from 13 PM (2-4PM AST) at O'Regan Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls, NB, and 68PM (7-9PM AST) at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, Maine, and Tuesday morning, 910:30 AM, at Lajoie Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
