IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline "Jackie"
Jalbert
January 17, 1926 – October 28, 2023
South Portland--Jacqueline Pelletier Jalbert, 97, passed away on October 28, 2023, in the home of her daughter Donna, who had been her caregiver for eight years. Jackie, as she liked to be called, was born January 17, 1926, daughter of Dora (Morin) and Edward Pelletier of St. Francis and Caribou, Maine.
She was married to the late Galen D. Morse of Cherryfield, Maine. She reunited with her teenage sweetheart, Philip Jalbert of St. John, Maine and rekindled their relationship and committed themselves to each other by marriage in 1996. Philip passed away in 2007.
Jackie owned and operated Jacqueline's House of Beauty in Brewer, Maine. She loved sewing and gardening. She planted and enjoyed her vegetables and flowers; this gave her a reason to play in the dirt. Jackie also enjoyed painting outdoor landscapes, which she gave to her children and grandchildren. She loved her pet dogs, especially Misty who passed away in 2021.
Jackie is survived by her children; Donna Schack and husband Michael of Portland, Maine, Dale Morse and wife Arlene of Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, Doug Morse and wife Rebecca of Bridgton, Maine, several stepchildren, grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by four sisters, Nadene Cox of Lenexa, Kansas, Joan Deane of Bangor, Maine, Doris Smith of Bow, New Hampshire, and Yvonne Lewis of Annapolis, Maryland.
Her infectious laugh was always part of her personality and made others laugh with her. In 1995, she entered and was crowned Ms. Senior Maine. She encouraged everyone to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment.
There will be no visiting hours. A family interment will be held at her gravesite later in Spring of 2024.
Her family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Southern Maine and Coastal Care Solutions of South Portland for all their care to our mom.
